Privacy
Last updated 2026-10-04.
The short version: you do not need an account to use Fence Run Estimator. The landing and legal pages set no cookies, run no ad trackers or ad pixels, and store no identifiers on your device. Nothing from another company loads on them until you click a Buy button, which opens Lemon Squeezy's checkout. The estimator app sets no cookies and loads no third-party scripts or trackers either, but it does keep data in this browser's localStorage on this device: any projects you save, your unit choice and your license key once it has been checked as valid, along with a random activation code that the app creates in this browser when you first enter a key.
We count anonymous page events on our own server. If you buy Pro, we keep the email address you used at checkout and a few order details, so we can deliver your license key and check it.
Checkout and payment run through Lemon Squeezy. We never receive your full card number. The details are below.
Who we are
Fence Run Estimator is made by Four Eyes Media LLC, 3 Germay Drive, Ste 4 #1004, Wilmington, DE 19804, USA. For the data this page calls ours, we are the business responsible for it (the data controller, in EU and UK terms).
Privacy questions and requests go to hello@fieldgrade.app.
No account
You do not need an account to use Fence Run Estimator. Pro works with a license key, which we email to your checkout address right after checkout.
Page events
When a page loads, when you click a Buy button or a link to one of our other tools, and when checkout starts, your browser sends a small anonymous event to our own server. For each event, we store only this:
- The event type: page view, click or checkout start. Clicks are counted on Buy buttons and, in the estimator app, on links to our other tools.
- The page path, for example the home page or this page. For a click on a link to another tool, a short label for that link.
- A rough device class worked out from screen width: mobile, tablet or desktop.
- The tool's experiment key, a short label for this page setup. It identifies the page, not you.
- A short label for the product the page sells.
- A random id for the event, so an event that gets sent twice is counted once.
- The time our server received it, and a marker that it came from a browser rather than from our own server.
IP addresses and server logs
Page events carry no IP address, no user agent, no referring page and no query string, and our server does not add them.
Our server uses your IP address in memory to rate limit requests. It does not write the address into the page event or license records.
Like any web server, ours can write a short technical log when a request fails, and that log can include an IP address and browser details. We use such logs only to fix faults and keep the service secure.
Cookies and trackers
The landing and legal pages set no cookies, run no ad trackers or ad pixels, and store no identifiers on your device. The estimator app also sets no cookies and loads no third-party scripts or trackers. It does store data on this device, and only in this browser's localStorage: any projects you save, your unit choice and, once it has been checked as valid, your license key, along with a random activation code that the app creates in this browser when you first enter a key (see 'Activation code' below).
When you click a Buy button on the landing page, the page loads Lemon Squeezy's checkout script from their servers and opens their checkout on top of the page. In the estimator app, the Buy button is a link that takes you to Lemon Squeezy's checkout page. From that click on, Lemon Squeezy receives your IP address and browser details, and its checkout may set cookies or similar storage of its own for the checkout, payment and fraud prevention. Nothing from Lemon Squeezy loads before you click.
Checkout is run by Lemon Squeezy, not by us. Their own privacy policy covers what they collect.
We show no cookie banner because we set no cookies ourselves, and the only storage the app uses is what it needs for things you choose to do: save a project, switch units or enter a key.
The estimator app sends no page events when your browser has Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control switched on. The landing and legal pages do not check those settings. The events are anonymous either way.
Units
Fence Run Estimator works in metric and imperial units. It picks a default from the region in your browser's language settings, and a visible unit toggle lets you switch.
The default is worked out on your device from the region in your browser's language settings, with no location lookup, no IP address lookup, no permission prompt and no request to a server. If you switch units, that choice is saved in this browser's localStorage on this device and used from then on instead of the default. Any share link you create also carries your metric or imperial setting.
Paying
Checkout and payment run through Lemon Squeezy, the merchant of record. Their checkout collects your name, email and billing details, takes the payment and handles any sales tax, VAT or GST. Lemon Squeezy is responsible for that data under its own privacy policy.
We never receive your full card number.
We can see your order in our Lemon Squeezy account, including your name, email address, billing location and what you paid. We use that to answer support questions and to issue refunds.
Your license
The email address we hold is the one you used at checkout. We use it to deliver your license key, to check it and to answer you when you write to us.
When your order completes, Lemon Squeezy sends the order details to our server. The server generates your key, adds one anonymous purchase count to the page event totals, and stores this:
- Your email address (the one used at checkout).
- The order reference and order number.
- The product you bought and the purchase date.
- The license key we generated for you.
- An activation record for each browser where you enter the key: a scrambled form (a hash) of that browser's activation code, the time it was first used and the time of its most recent check. See 'Activation code' below.
- The status of the license (active, refunded or revoked) and whether the key email was sent.
- A log of order messages from Lemon Squeezy: the order reference, what the message was about and when it arrived.
Key email and key checks
Your license key is sent to your checkout email address through Resend, our email delivery provider. Resend receives your email address and the content of that email so it can deliver it.
Your license key is a unique code tied to your order. The estimator app sends it, with a short product label, to our server when you enter it, and again from time to time when you open the app, to confirm the key is still valid.
When a key is checked, our anonymous event count records only whether the check passed, and we do not record your IP address for that check. The check also updates the activation record for that key, described in the next section.
We do not send marketing email to your checkout address. The only email we send you is the one with your key, plus replies when you write to us. Your receipt comes from Lemon Squeezy.
Activation code
The first time you enter your license key in a browser, the app creates a random activation code in that browser. The code is a random string. It holds nothing about you or your device: it is not a hardware id, not a device fingerprint and not an IP address, and it is not built from anything on your device.
The app keeps the code in this browser's localStorage on this device, next to your key, and sends both to our server whenever the key is checked. Our server does not store the code itself. It stores a scrambled form of it (a hash), which cannot be turned back into the code, linked to your license record, together with the time the code was first used and the time of the most recent check. That is how the server counts the devices and browsers your key is active on, so it can apply the activation limit set out in the terms under 'How long the license lasts'.
Our server deletes a browser's activation record when you remove the key in that browser. It deletes all activation records for a key when the license is refunded or revoked. Once the license term has ended, an automatic daily clean-up deletes them, as does the next key check. Copies can remain in the encrypted database backups until those are replaced, as described under 'How long we keep it'.
To free a place for another device or browser, use the app's button to remove your key in the browser you no longer want to use. That removes the key and the code from that browser, switches off Pro there and frees the place. If you no longer have that device or browser, email hello@fieldgrade.app with your order number and we will clear it for you. Clearing this site's data in your browser settings also removes the key and the code from that browser, but it does not free the place on our server. To free it after that, email us the same way.
Saved projects and share links
Saved projects, share links and the PDF bid sheet are features of Fence Run Estimator. The split between the free version and Pro is set out in the terms, under 'What the tool does', and on the product's home page.
Saved projects are stored only in this browser's localStorage on this device, and your license key is kept there too once it has been checked as valid. A saved project holds its name, your notes, the fence dimensions and options, and any price book edits for that project; none of it is sent to our server, and with no account, sync or backup, clearing browser data or switching to another browser or device means your projects are not there. Until they are saved to a project, price book edits and anything else you have entered for the estimate are held only in the open page and are lost when the browser tab or window is closed or the page is reloaded. A share link carries only the fence specs, the two waste factors (general waste and the extra waste allowance for sloped ground) and your metric or imperial setting. It never carries prices, notes, the project name or the license key. The specs sit in the part of the link after the hash sign, which your browser does not send to our server when the link is opened. They are encoded, not encrypted: anyone who has the link can read them, and so can any app or service you send the link through. A link cannot be recalled once you have sent it.
The PDF bid sheet is built in your browser and saved to your device. It is not sent to us.
Project names and notes can hold details about your customers. They stay in your browser and on any PDF you make. We never receive them.
To remove what the app has stored, delete the saved projects in the app, use the app's button to remove your key from this browser, or clear this site's data in your browser settings. Removing the key in the app also frees this browser's place under the activation limit, as explained in 'Activation code' above.
If you email us
If you write to hello@fieldgrade.app, we keep your message and our reply so we can help you and keep a record of what was agreed. Refund requests are handled this way.
Selling and sharing
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for advertising.
We pass personal data to authorities only if the law requires it. Otherwise, the only companies that handle it for us or with us are these:
- Lemon Squeezy: checkout, payment, tax and receipts, as merchant of record under its own privacy policy.
- Resend: delivery of the license key email.
- Our hosting and storage providers: the server that runs Fence Run Estimator, and any backups of it.
- Our email provider: the mailbox behind our contact address.
Where your data is handled
We are a United States business, and our providers handle data in the United States and in other countries where they operate. If you buy from somewhere else, your data is handled outside your country, under laws that may differ from the ones where you live.
How long we keep it
We keep data only as long as it does a job:
- Page events: up to about 13 months.
- License records: as long as the license exists, so your key keeps working, and longer where we need them for refunds, disputes, tax or legal reasons.
- Activation records: until you remove the key in that browser, or until the license is refunded, revoked or reaches the end of its term, whichever comes first.
- Emails you send us: as long as we need them to help you and to keep a record of refunds and disputes.
- Backups: encrypted backups of the database are kept away from the main server and replaced on a rolling basis.
- Technical logs: server logs can include order references and a masked form of your email address. We keep them only as long as we need them for troubleshooting and security.
Our reasons for using your data
Some laws, including those of the EU and the UK, ask us to name a legal basis for each use of personal data. Ours are these:
- Delivering and checking your license key, answering your emails and paying refunds: these are necessary for our contract with you.
- Counting anonymous page events, keeping the service secure and keeping backups: our legitimate interest in running the tool and keeping it working.
- Keeping order records where tax or other law requires it: our legal obligations.
Your choices and rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it or ask us to delete it. Email hello@fieldgrade.app from the address you used at checkout so we can find your record. We answer within 30 days.
Deleting a license record means that key stops working. We keep what tax and legal rules require us to keep.
Depending on where you live, you may have more rights, such as objecting to or limiting how we use your data, or receiving it in a portable form. Ask the same way. We will not treat you worse for using any of these rights.
If you think we have handled your data wrongly, please tell us first. Depending on where you live, you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
For data that Lemon Squeezy holds as merchant of record, such as payment details, contact Lemon Squeezy.
Children
Fence Run Estimator is a tool for adults who do or plan building work. It is not directed at children, we do not knowingly collect personal data from children, and you must be an adult to buy.
Changes to this page
If what we collect changes, we update this page and the date at the top.
